Year 6, May:

Hello, there! I must say this month will most likely be told in pictures more than words because it has been both a whirlwind and a slow paced time of recovery. We have been productive, but have loved the family time we have had together, especially now that we have our Baby Vivian here with us! Her arrival has made this month the sweetest we have ever had.

Prior to her arrival we did a bunch of stuff to get ready for her, but we also had some fun social events too! We had a surprise birthday party to go to, we went to a parenting conference and the kids got to have some special time with Grandma and Grandpa! I worked a few days, which were challenging, but I have such a great group of people to work with I was so glad I got to spend time with them before I took some time off. Thankfully, I prepared for the challenges of the last month of pregnancy and took a few days off/decreased my hours a few days, which helped a ton.

We went grocery shopping and got a bunch of stuff for maternity leave so I wouldn't have to worry too much about grocery shopping and Jonathan wouldn't either! I also did some cooking to prepare for my leave, made some cereal and got the place prepared. We had a few nights of contractions where I thought we were going to be heading to the hospital, but we didn't, everything stopped. I tried everything to get everything moving, but to no avail! We planted the garden and everything, but she was quite comfortable to stay put.

On the fourteenth the doctor told me we were ready to get the baby moving, so we scheduled everything for the nineteenth! I was so excited to know where we were headed. They were predicting she would be pretty big and I was pretty stressed about it, so it was great to know we were in the right direction. Additionally, it gave us a few days to really prepare. We got things cleaned up and ready to roll, which made me feel a lot better, we got the kids all ready for the baby to come. Of course, there's the fact that William had no idea what was going on anyway, but Amelia certainly understood.

We went in Monday morning on the 19th and Vivi was born 12 hours after I was induced! She was our easiest labor and delivery for sure. It was such a relief to get through it quickly. We had to stay two nights and finally got to go home on Wednesday. Thankfully the kids were able to come visit on Tuesday and so were both of our sets of parents. It was so great to introduce Vivian to our families! We are so proud of her, she's the sweetest thing in the world and we are all completely in love with her!

Jonathan was off for two weeks, which was just such a sweet time together just the five of us. We had quite a few visitors, but mostly spent time together just us. Amelia has absolutely loved being with her and William has been adjusting, he keeps warming up to her more and more, so we are getting there! He also decided to potty train! This has been an incredible development because it made it super easy. Jonathan helped him out a lot and William put his mind to it and has had a TON of success!

I don't have a lot more to report! We have been home a lot, we have enjoyed the outdoors, the kids have been getting all sorts of use out of the new trampoline and we are just soaking up this newborn period with Baby Vivian. She is doing fantastically. Eating well, sleeping pretty well and learning how to interact out here in the world. We are getting to know her and can't wait to keep learning more about who she is. She is a blessing!

We hope everyone else is doing well and enjoying the late spring weather we are having. It has been beautiful, it has been rainy and dreary, it is just all the things weather-wise here, but thankfully it is all helping our garden and our kids learn different things! Summer is coming here soon, so I am trying to enjoy the cozy days before they are gone for good!

Love,

Jonathan, Allison, Amelia, William and Vivian
