I am a bit late on reporting on June, but better late than never! We are on our way to establishing a new normal! Soaking up every minute with Baby Vivian!
Jonathan went back to work at the beginning of the month, the kids started going to Nana's once a week, they have been having a great time with that and very much look forward to it! Otherwise, we are having a great time hanging out together the four of us while Daddy works! We have been running errands, going to the library, doctor's appointments when we need to, play dates, it has been a great month as a family.
Our garden has been growing a lot - weeds for the most part - but growing none the less! June was a lot of time spent weeding, mowing and weed eating for poor Jonathan. It was a lot of feeding, changing and snuggling baby for me. We have both bore the burden of cleaning up accidents from our little boy who, we happily report, is potty trained. He had a rough first week of the month and then BAM took off and is doing a fantastic job! Super proud of our William boy!
I have picked up on my cooking again, so we are constantly trying to balance leftovers and fresh meals! Additionally, I have been making bread products with my healthy little sourdough starter that is just thriving over here. We have been enjoying the different sides and products!
We are all back to going to church, Vivian has been hanging out with us and Jonathan has been coming to get us so we can go as a family. There has also been a fantastic Bible study at church about Bible study. It was a women's Bible study, so Jonathan stayed with the big two! The Minerva Homecoming was also this month, so he and my parents took them to the parade, they had a fantastic time!
After having Vivian we knew we would need to be updating my vehicle. Jonathan has spent a lot of time researching and we decided to take it very seriously this month and buckle down a little bit. On Father's day (a Sunday) he cleaned our cars and, on a whim, put mine out in front of the house that evening...lo and behold, it sold Tuesday afternoon...so that really cleared up a direction for us! We did not need my vehicle for a little while, but it did put the pressure on to search a little bit.
Vivian turned one month old, which was super speedy. We had a great first month with her! In her first month she gained 3 pounds, which is a MASSIVE amount of weight. She has been a great little sleeper, very few difficult nights, for the most part she has only been up twice between 11 and 7, which is pretty fantastic. Our sweet girl has been capturing the hearts of her siblings as well. They both love to "play" with and interact with her. William doesn't really know what to do with her, but Amelia works with her very well. She is completely undaunted by crying and fussing, just keeps trying something different until she gets Vivian relaxed. Very helpful for a mama trying to make dinner!
I came down with mastitis on the hottest day ever, so I spent my day under a blanket shivering...so that was a long day. Jonathan was a trooper and took care of the kids so I could try to regain functionality. Thankfully, it did not go too bad. After I got better we went and looked at some cars so I could get an idea of what we were considering. Jonathan had already driven the cars, but I wanted to see them as well and get to experience the two.
We had some friends come over and swim at Mom's, so the kids loved the evening together! We went grocery shopping as a family, the first really massive grocery trip with Vivian, which was a blast, the kids did great!
Our last weekend of the month was a real party! We celebrated Grandma's birthday with the whole family together at my Aunt's house, then had a birthday party for our family friend's little boy the next day! Lots of partying. Amelia and I also did some blueberry picking in there, so we really accomplished a lot! Through all of this, we had every intention of going to buy a car as well, only to find out it was not on the lot when we wanted to go buy it...SO, we were left to wait until the end of the weekend. The story proceeded to unfold in July!
Overall - it was an absolutely wonderful month. There was the whole sickness thing and the whole stress of the car thing, but we truly enjoyed every single minute, even the stressful part! We got a lot of stuff accomplished for having a newborn at home!
Keep enjoying the summer, stay as cool and comfortable as you can!
Love,
Jonathan, Allison, Amelia, William and Vivian
