Year 4, Weeks 25-27: Party, Party and Pictures!

Back again! I am proud of the fact that I have been writing these at the time that I actually want to - 2023 is off to a good start! We haven't had a ton of stuff going since I am home and it's the middle of winter, that has also been helpful!

Week 25: January 2-8

We had Landis Christmas on Monday, which was a ton of fun! Amelia had a great time opening presents and spending time with family. We tried to get the kids to nap when we got home, but had some challenges since Amelia slept some on the ride home, so we ended up going grocery shopping in the evening! On the way home we got Hot Heads and everyone got to eat when we got there! Since William has come into the picture we have been grocery shopping as a family and it's kind of fun!

We have been in the process of trying to get a couch, but haven't been totally sure what we wanted, so we have been spending a lot of time at Gordon's, the local furniture store. Jonathan FINALLY ordered one on Thursday when we made a decision! Now we just wait for it to come in, only a few more weeks to go! It's okay that it's going to take a little bit longer though, because we are still working on getting everything ready to go.

Wednesday we got Christmas all cleaned up. Thursday we ventured out to get some shopping done in town for my work Christmas party, then got supper and went to visit my parents afterward. Friday was the big prep day for me. We had to go butcher on Friday, then on Sunday we had my work party in the evening, so I had a lot to get ready for. I made chili, prepped dip, punch and cookie dough for the party, I made strawberry-rhubarb crisp for Saturday and cereal and oatmeal for my family. It was a lot of work, but I thoroughly enjoyed all of it!

Saturday was a big day, then Mom and Dad came over for dessert in the evening, which made Amelia's night. Sunday was church, then we spent a lot of time getting ready for the party. Everyone came here, so we had to set up chairs and tables and I had to get potatoes baked and ready to go!

Week 26: January 9-15

William has been quite a challenge at night, moving upstairs was super helpful though! He started to sleep longer and longer at night and we finally got a bit of a rhythm down, which kept inching us closer. He FINALLY slept through the night on Wednesday and has been doing pretty well ever since! He just started going without waking up or needing a binky replacement.

This week was a little hectic, but we got a few things done! We went grocery shopping and went on our ONLY restaurant visit with two children under the age of two! Texas Roadhouse was delicious and they both were phenomenal while we were there! Amelia loved her chicken and fries almost as much as she loved shopping! The three of us went on a few errands earlier in the day too because I had to get ready for Amelia's second birthday party. We ran to Yoder's then stopped at Faith's house on the way home!

Thursday was my big prep day for Amelia's birthday party. We spent a lot of time preparing in the evenings. Jonathan built her kitchen one evening, I worked on signs for the food and decorations! We went with a Mother Goose theme since she is constantly reciting nursery rhymes right now! She LOVES "Wheels on the Bus", but she has cycled through a lot of them - "Baa Baa Sheep", "Hey Diddle, Diddle", her favorite one is very transient!

On Friday, our Baby Girl turned TWO YEARS OLD! We had a great time, the party was in the evening and she just loved every minute of it! She was surrounded by her favorite people and it just blessed her and us so much. Please enjoy pictures below!

Saturday was another family day of butchering, which we all enjoyed. On Sunday we had a great day, went shopping in Canton and stopped for dinner on the way home. Amelia had her first Subway and she loved it! She had a turkey sandwich and enjoyed it so much! She is getting so big and capable and we love her so much!

Week 27: January 16-22

Amelia and I went on a quick little shopping trip on Monday of this week - we went to Dollar General and DDM. We have to go shopping in town about every week so that we can get some fresh food...I am getting used to taking both of the little babies! Jonathan has been working upstairs on different projects and everything is coming together so nicely! We have also been rearranging our first floor space to better accommodate our family's needs since we have a bit more space available!

This week was a big week! We finally had our Haas family Christmas AND we got our beef, so there was a lot to do! I ran some errands with the kids early in the week to get a few things I couldn't find locally and got some eggs too. We wrapped gifts and got all ready for Christmas too! Amelia was quite disappointed that getting Shem and Karah a gift did not mean we were going to see them instantaneously!

Wednesday ended up being extra interesting since Jonathan had the opportunity to serve as a juror! What a blessing! It really was a pretty good deal - he was only there one day and actually enjoyed it!

Thursday we got to see Shem and Karah and had our Haas family Christmas. It was so great to have time together as a family because we haven't had a lot of that since our family has grown by two people! We had great dinner, a great Christmas and great conversation.

On Friday I had to go get a test done, so Amelia actually got to hang out with Uncle Shem and Aunt Rah-Rah! She had a great time, they actually got her up in the morning! I heard about it for the rest of the weekend. Such a special thing for her! Since we were getting our beef the next day I had a lot of prep to do for meatloaves and meatballs and corned beef and everything else! I actually really enjoy doing this, making meals for my family is something I enjoy and being prepared to do that more easily in the next year gives me much peace of mind.

Sunday was a good, relaxing day to wrap up a crazy week. We had church, then Jonathan went outside to work a little bit while the kids napped. In the evening, we went to Mom and Dad's for dinner, to see Grandma and Grandpa and to help with pigs. We always love relaxing evenings with family and we were glad to get the kids home and to bed! They have both been doing so well! Most nights, they go down at 8 and we don't see Amelia until 8:30 the next morning! William gets a feeding later in the evening too, but he sleeps through that and then we don't see him until 7! It works out really well!

I hope everyone is enjoying the winter weather. It hasn't been too cold and the snow we have gotten is absolutely beautiful! Stay safe out there! Love you all!

Love,

Jonathan, Allison, Amelia and William
