Year 4, Weeks 37-40: Spring Has Sprung!

Hello, there! The Lil Landis Fam is back. Only a few days late, but we made it. Between work, home, doctor's appointment and the beautiful weather, there just hasn't been time!

Week 37: March 27 - April 2

It was my double 13 week, so the kids hung out with Pam on Monday while I was at work. William was having a tough time with baths for a few days, but Jonathan put him back in his baby tub and Jonathan said he was happier. His skin has been such a wreck that the poor guy just gets upset sometimes. Jonathan was milking this week, so the kids hung out a little bit longer in the evenings so he could get chores done, but the rest of the week I was home, so that helped.

Wednesday William had a chiropractor appointment, then we had a nice, relaxing night as a family. William's skin stayed pretty bad, but he started to get a little better. We went on a super fun adventure on Thursday after chores to help our friends the Guess' move back to Ohio from Texas! We had a lot of fun visiting them there, but are much more excited about having them here close by!

One of our friends lost her dad, so I ended up taking food to them Friday morning, then I met with another friend who had a little boy who struggled with skin issues to hear about what she did for him. It was so helpful and we have started a new therapy to try to get him feeling better. In the evening we went grocery shopping and picked up some dinner.

On Saturday I ended up taking William to stat care because his little toe was super infected. Poor little man just gets hit by one thing after another. Jonathan and Amelia worked on picking up sticks...mainly Jonathan, but she was there. In the evening, after my nap, we went to the Landis' for an early Easter celebration.

Mom and Dad came home on Saturday, so we got to see them on Sunday. Amelia was quite excited to be reunited with her Nana and Papa! We worked on getting the closets all put together over the weekend too. They needed painted and put back together, so it was great to get that finished.

Week 38: April 3 - 9

Mondays are always my prep day for the week. We had chicken quesadillas, hung out as a family and enjoyed some time together. Tuesday is always work, so it's nice to have some time to relax. This particular Tuesday, Amelia got bit by one of the other little girls at the babysitter's. It wasn't a bad one, she bounced back quickly and didn't really notice it that much. When I asked her about it, she told me on Wednesday, but she didn't seem too concerned.

I spent a lot of time getting things done on Wednesday. I made lasagna and cake, we went to the library and Amelia and I ran a few errands. Thursday was burrito day, Jonathan was on a work site and William and I went for some treatment for our skin. I also tried a new breakfast casserole, it was pretty delicious and served us well going into a weekend that I had to work!

Mom was off on Friday, so the kids went and hung out there, then Jonathan and Dad worked on a board for our wall after he was done with work. Since it was Easter weekend, I took Sunday off and only had to work Friday and Saturday. We got some garden planning done on Saturday evening, but otherwise just relaxed and enjoyed an evening together at home.

Sunday was Easter, which was phenomenal. It was so special to get to spend it with my family. In the afternoon we went to the Rich's for a family gathering, so the kids got a late nap, but it was well worth it. Jonathan worked on washing screens, then in the evening we got to talk to Shem and Karah, which was amazing. We really enjoyed our day and were so thankful for the day off for me from work.

Week 39: April 10 - 16

Monday was another treatment for William and I, then I had to avoid eggs for 25 hours. Honestly - it wasn't that big of a deal. Apparently I don't eat many eggs. The Henmans came over for dinner and it was incredibly amazing. We had such a great evening with them and the kids all had a fantastic time together. Our hearts were so encouraged by time with them. Steak alfredo was something I could easily eat - so I was super excited about that. Jonathan came with us for this treatment too, so we enjoyed getting some bonus time together.

Tuesday was work for me and just normal for our family. Wednesday is small group day and I was pretty exhausted, so we ended up getting Subway for dinner on the way to small group after Jonathan mowed. He got out of work a little early and went to pick the mower up, then went out and got the yard done. Amelia had a tough time at small group, for some reason she ended up crying twice. I soaked up the snuggles, but it was sad.

On Thursday I ended up taking William to the doctor. Poor boy was just so miserable I couldn't stand it anymore. Mama was crying, he was crying, we were all disheartened. Thankfully, the new goop helped! Jonathan had band, but we met with our financial advisors and got to catch up with them before he had to go. I had an evening with the babies, which was a gift and we enjoyed our time together.

Friday was my short day, so we had leftovers after I got home and enjoyed some time together. On Saturday, we planted a few things in the garden, the renters came to get the boats and then we ended up at TSC in the morning. We picked up Arby's for lunch while we were out, then came home and did some organizing. Jonathan weeded the flower bed, we had ham fried rice and I made some oatmeal. It was a pretty productive day for us, I think everyone slept well that night! It was great weekend all around.

Week 40: April 17 - 23

We were approached about hosting another wedding this summer, so Jonathan actually called and got all of that sorted out on Monday while I was at work. I have had a few things on my plate since one of my technicians got a different job. She is moving on on great terms and I am super happy for her, but she is going to be missed and it has meant some hiring and sorting through applicants for me. Thankfully, I have one starting the process! So I spent a lot of time working on that between Monday and Tuesday. Still a few more hurdles to jump, but we will get there. She seems to be pretty on top of things, so I am excited to see where we end up. Jonathan had a Hillsdale visit on Tuesday, the kids hung out with Pam on Monday, it was all pretty normal for us. William was an absolute dream after his doctor's appointment. His skin getting better has just transformed his whole body. I can tell he is just feeling so much better.

My car's air conditioning wasn't working, so it went to the shop on Wednesday. Amelia was pretty excited we got to follow a school bus into town. I spent a lot of time planning for my appointment on Thursday since we were getting therapy and I was going to be avoiding calcium for 25 hours. The kids went to hang out with Mom and Dad while we went on a mini date and to small group. Since I was going to have to avoid calcium, we went to Grinders and got big milk shakes to go with our dinners. Jonathan was feeling a little under the weather on Wednesday, but on Thursday he really didn't feel well. He ended up going to the doctor in the afternoon. William and I went for therapy in the morning while he and Amelia stayed home, then he took a nap once we got home and mowed in the afternoon before he went to the doctor. It was a good day for him to be sick since I couldn't have any contact with calcium. Made it a little difficult for me to get anything ready for Amelia. We had steak and potatoes for dinner since I really couldn't eat a whole lot of anything else.

Friday morning I had some friends over for a book study and that was a ton of fun. Amelia loved seeing some friends and I did too. By 11 I was able to eat calcium containing things - thank goodness. I must say - I felt pretty accomplished having done what I was supposed to for that long.

Saturday was a pretty big day for us again. Amelia and I went grocery shopping, Jonathan worked on the fence for our garden, I made sandwiches for dinner, made cinnamon rolls and we moved our closet stuff upstairs. It was a productive day! Sunday was pretty good too. We sent the kids off with Mom and Dad after church and we headed up to Canton to get some shopping done. I needed some clothes that fit and so did the kids, but we really had a good time and found a few things to wear, so that was awesome. We enjoyed coming back and spending time with family. It's not that long away from the kids but we always miss them!

I hope you all are enjoying the spring weather we have had some glimpses of. I know we are trying to take advantage of it while we can! Lots of preparing for our garden this year and trying to keep it safe from the varmints who like the produce just as much as we do!

We love you all, talk to you soon!

Love,

Jonathan, Allison, Amelia and William
