Year 2, Week 47: A Hint of Normal

We finally got to go back to a little bit of normal. Jonathan actually went out to Celina last week! It was hard to get back to staying home alone, but he was happy to get back out there to work with real live people again!

Monday night he had dinner with Graham and Dillon, which he very much enjoyed. It was hard for him not to see them in awhile. He stayed the night at Dillon's and I actually slept well and didn't have any issues. Unfortunately, I somehow contracted a stomach bug while he was away. I didn't feel well Monday, but was fine, then Tuesday I had to leave work because I got sick there. I was completely miserable, but very glad that he got home Tuesday night. When he got home there was a turtle making its way down the yard...so that was kind of fun! Made for a bright spot in the day.

When I woke up Wednesday I still felt terrible, but by the evening I was feeling better. We ran into town to get more Lipton Noodle Soup...just in case, then went to get milk at my parent's house, came back home and had dinner. I wanted real food, but didn't want to eat anything I love, just in case it came back up, so we had hamburger helper and it was delicious and stayed where I put it. In the evening we played some gin rummy outside on the patio and enjoyed time together. Thursday we played games too! Black bean and lime bowls for dinner, then bananagrams and carcassonne.

It was my weekend to work, so Jonathan made himself some Swedish meatball pasta, then ended up coming to bring me some KFC for dinner since I didn't pack enough food. I felt so much better, but ended up really hungry after eating so little for a few days! Thankfully, he was sweet enough to bring me food...even in the pouring rain.

On Saturday Jonathan made me waffles for breakfast and then, while I was at work, he weeded, mowed, washed dishes, cleaned, started designing a table and talked to his family. He loved being productive, so it was a great day for both of us! We had leftovers for dinner and relaxed for the evening. Sunday I worked again, so Jonathan worked on his table, did some laundry, talked to his grandma and went on a run. We had leftovers again, watched church and then went to bed pretty early.

We have had a great week so far and hope you guys have too. See you soon, love you lots!

Love,

Alli and Jonathan

Year 2, Week 46: Finally, Some Socializing!

Well, last week was a fantastic week for us. We got to see some friends for the first time in a long while and also got to go do some shopping! All good and refreshing things after all the "social distancing" we have been stuck with recently.

Monday was Memorial Day, so that was wonderful. We went to the Prusia's for the day, went on the "farm tour", ate delicious food, enjoyed some games and company. It was a great time and we enjoyed spending some time riding around outside. We then came home and got a good night's sleep before starting the short week.

Tuesday I went back to work, which was a crazy one. It was a little like a Monday on steroids, but I enjoyed it a lot after the slow, boring days we have had since this whole pandemic hit. Jonathan worked while I was gone, then mowed and did dishes in the evening.

Since Monday was a holiday, it threw my normal schedule off, so I went grocery shopping on Wednesday instead. It was a bit of a long day for me, but we got through it, Jonathan made us some steaks for dinner, we went on a walk, it as a good evening together. Of course, I worked on Thursday, so that is always hard after a nice day off, but it was a pretty good day. My district manager stopped by, which is always good, it gives me a chance to ask him all my questions in person instead of e-mailing him. Jonathan had a very productive day while I was gone! He worked on the car a little bit, washed it, chatted with his family and did dishes.

Friday was a great day off for me - I took quite the nap, so that is never disappointing. We worked out when Jonathan was done with work, at tacos, which is always a good thing, then we went and did a little bit of visiting! We went to my grandparents to visit them and to pick up a chair my great-great grandmother gave them as a wedding gift. It is a rocking chair and it is absolutely beautiful. Jonathan is looking forward to re-doing something other than a table! This time we took a before picture. After that we went to Mom and Dad's for some dessert to celebrate Dad's birthday.

Saturday was a busy day for us. We had a good morning at home, slept in, ate breakfast, then left for Amish country. Since we got married we have been planning on spending the money from the wedding on chairs for our kitchen table, and we did just that. Now that we can finally go shopping again we headed down to order the ones we wanted! It is now part of the waiting game...which is going to be less fun, but we are excited to see them when they are done! On our way home we stopped back at the Landis' house for the afternoon/evening. We hung out, caught up, saw Grandma and Grandpa and enjoyed some dinner together.

It is always sad to get to the end of the weekend and Sunday was no different! We went to church, then came back and took a nap on the couch. After we woke up, Jonathan mowed the lawn and I made some butter. After that, I made some granola, we cleaned the house and enjoyed the evening before the crazy work week started! Overall - it was a great week and we thoroughly enjoyed spending time together out and about!

I hope you guys had just as good of a holiday! Have a great week - we will see you soon!

Love,

Alli and Jonathan
