Year 2, Week 28: Busy, but Fun!

Date night selfie 1/24/20
Well here we are, finally writing for the actual week before and that's all! I will keep it short for a few reasons - 1. it is late and I am hoping to get tired here shortly and 2. there just isn't that much that has happened!

Monday I tried to get a lot done...it was difficult since it was a holiday though! I did go grocery shopping and actually got some recipes written down that I had tried. We enjoyed an evening at home, had Tuscan Chicken Stew (which was fabulous) and relaxed. Tuesday I worked, so Jonathan spent the day doing a little bit of running around and then went to basketball.

Wednesday and Thursday Jonathan had to go to Celina again, so I was home to fend for myself. I spent a lot of time at the pharmacy on Wednesday. My district manager and I cleaned out our old records...we sent back 24 totes for destruction! All of the pharmacy storage is a little tidier now that we are finished with all of that. Five hours later we were dusty, but felt accomplished. I rewarded myself with Hot Heads for dinner and went to eat it at Mom and Dad's...I don't get to spend a ton of time with them, so it was nice to just relax and enjoy some good company. Thursday I worked and Jonathan did his first solo gig at the ONU career fair! He had a great time talking to some of the students and catching up with some of the guys he went to school with who were also there recruiting. I am so proud of him and it is a ton of fun to see how much he has learned in his time working for Fanning-Howey and it is even more enjoyable to see him get recognized for it!

Well, hello, HANDSOME!
New kicks

Getting some practice in...minus skis and snow
and slope and actual outdoor gear...but still practice!
Friday was a wonderful day. I spent the day doing a few things around the house while Jonathan worked...I try not to bother him, but I didn't do a great job because I really think he should just hang out with me, but he doesn't always see it that way! Thankfully, he doesn't work so late, so we got to spend the tail end of the afternoon and the whole evening together. We went on a bit of an adventure in Alliance. First stop was the ski shack to get both of us some boots. I was in dire need of new ones and he was in need of...well...boots in general! It was so fun to show him around and he really loved it. We ended up leaving both of our sets of skis there to be tuned up, both got new boots, Jonathan got poles and I got goggles. A few more items to purchase...but we are almost ready to hit the slopes! After that we went to grab a few things at Walmart, that wasn't very exciting, but we went to eat dinner at Heggy's. It was so much fun. Such a cute atmosphere, great food, perfect portion sizes, amazing ice cream and REALLY good prices. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back again sometime. The best part about Friday was we got back in time to watch a movie and hang out! It was one of my favorite date nights. I love being home, but I also love going out, so it was the best of both worlds. We FINALLY watched Jason Bourne, the last of the series, and it was actually really good. Those movies never disappoint and we both enjoy watching them, so it was a win-win.

Jonathan has lovingly been deemed "Uncle Johnny"
by Lee and it is pretty adorable. At the time of this
photo there are 5 children dancing around him.
(Side note - the only person calling him "Johnny" is Lee,
and he is potentially the only person who can get
away with it...I've tried...)
Saturday was a bit different than expected. Usually we spend the day at the farm working on meat, but instead we had my Great Grandpa Cliff's calling hours and funeral. It was a beautifully, well-done celebration. We heard stories, looked at pictures, said goodbye and reconnected with family. After we got home, we did dinner, made cookies and just relaxed for the evening. Relaxation has been a bit of a theme this week because we haven't had much of a chance to do that recently and are trying to get it back in our routine!

Sunday ended up being meat day, so more family time! We slept in a little bit because...well...we were exhausted. I had dinner in the crockpot for when we got home, so it was all ready for us to eat. Then we showered, got ready and headed out for youth group. Our Sundays end pretty similarly - youth group, weekly check-in, then go to bed as early as possible to get ready for the rest of the week!

Overall - this week was not as bad as it looked when we were planning for it! Lots of time to enjoy each other and a lot of good time with family. We love our people and are so blessed to have such unique relationships with all of them.

We love all of you! Thank you for loving our family and for participating in our lives. It is so precious to get to include all of you in our day-to-day...hopefully you enjoy it as much as we do!

Have a great week!

- Alli and Jonathan

Year 6, May:

Hello, there! I must say this month will most likely be told in pictures more than words because it has been both a whirlwind and a slow pac...
