Year 2, Week 28: Busy, but Fun!

Date night selfie 1/24/20
Well here we are, finally writing for the actual week before and that's all! I will keep it short for a few reasons - 1. it is late and I am hoping to get tired here shortly and 2. there just isn't that much that has happened!

Monday I tried to get a lot done...it was difficult since it was a holiday though! I did go grocery shopping and actually got some recipes written down that I had tried. We enjoyed an evening at home, had Tuscan Chicken Stew (which was fabulous) and relaxed. Tuesday I worked, so Jonathan spent the day doing a little bit of running around and then went to basketball.

Wednesday and Thursday Jonathan had to go to Celina again, so I was home to fend for myself. I spent a lot of time at the pharmacy on Wednesday. My district manager and I cleaned out our old records...we sent back 24 totes for destruction! All of the pharmacy storage is a little tidier now that we are finished with all of that. Five hours later we were dusty, but felt accomplished. I rewarded myself with Hot Heads for dinner and went to eat it at Mom and Dad's...I don't get to spend a ton of time with them, so it was nice to just relax and enjoy some good company. Thursday I worked and Jonathan did his first solo gig at the ONU career fair! He had a great time talking to some of the students and catching up with some of the guys he went to school with who were also there recruiting. I am so proud of him and it is a ton of fun to see how much he has learned in his time working for Fanning-Howey and it is even more enjoyable to see him get recognized for it!

Well, hello, HANDSOME!
New kicks

Getting some practice in...minus skis and snow
and slope and actual outdoor gear...but still practice!
Friday was a wonderful day. I spent the day doing a few things around the house while Jonathan worked...I try not to bother him, but I didn't do a great job because I really think he should just hang out with me, but he doesn't always see it that way! Thankfully, he doesn't work so late, so we got to spend the tail end of the afternoon and the whole evening together. We went on a bit of an adventure in Alliance. First stop was the ski shack to get both of us some boots. I was in dire need of new ones and he was in need of...well...boots in general! It was so fun to show him around and he really loved it. We ended up leaving both of our sets of skis there to be tuned up, both got new boots, Jonathan got poles and I got goggles. A few more items to purchase...but we are almost ready to hit the slopes! After that we went to grab a few things at Walmart, that wasn't very exciting, but we went to eat dinner at Heggy's. It was so much fun. Such a cute atmosphere, great food, perfect portion sizes, amazing ice cream and REALLY good prices. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and can't wait to go back again sometime. The best part about Friday was we got back in time to watch a movie and hang out! It was one of my favorite date nights. I love being home, but I also love going out, so it was the best of both worlds. We FINALLY watched Jason Bourne, the last of the series, and it was actually really good. Those movies never disappoint and we both enjoy watching them, so it was a win-win.

Jonathan has lovingly been deemed "Uncle Johnny"
by Lee and it is pretty adorable. At the time of this
photo there are 5 children dancing around him.
(Side note - the only person calling him "Johnny" is Lee,
and he is potentially the only person who can get
away with it...I've tried...)
Saturday was a bit different than expected. Usually we spend the day at the farm working on meat, but instead we had my Great Grandpa Cliff's calling hours and funeral. It was a beautifully, well-done celebration. We heard stories, looked at pictures, said goodbye and reconnected with family. After we got home, we did dinner, made cookies and just relaxed for the evening. Relaxation has been a bit of a theme this week because we haven't had much of a chance to do that recently and are trying to get it back in our routine!

Sunday ended up being meat day, so more family time! We slept in a little bit because...well...we were exhausted. I had dinner in the crockpot for when we got home, so it was all ready for us to eat. Then we showered, got ready and headed out for youth group. Our Sundays end pretty similarly - youth group, weekly check-in, then go to bed as early as possible to get ready for the rest of the week!

Overall - this week was not as bad as it looked when we were planning for it! Lots of time to enjoy each other and a lot of good time with family. We love our people and are so blessed to have such unique relationships with all of them.

We love all of you! Thank you for loving our family and for participating in our lives. It is so precious to get to include all of you in our day-to-day...hopefully you enjoy it as much as we do!

Have a great week!

Year 2, Week 18: A Wonderfully Calm Week

Random photo from the wedding we went to in September!
Well, hello there! I hope everyone is having a great week so far! We are just dropping in to let you know how our last week went!

Monday was a day off for me...Mondays off are always about my favorite days off. They come after I work Friday-Sunday, so it always feels like the most relaxing day off I get. I went grocery shopping, which I really enjoy, then I came home and got to do some scheduling and training for work before I needed to start dinner. Mandi and Keagan came over for dinner and games, which was a good time. We had steaks, cheesy potatoes and green beans with chocolate chip cookies for dessert. It was all super delicious and the company made the evening even better!

I always work on Tuesdays, so Jonathan usually goes to basketball in the evening and helps get things organized around the house for me. It was snowy and cold last week, so Jonathan came and got my truck warmed up for me! I was pleasantly surprised to walk out and see him waiting for me...super thankful for that sweet act of kindness! Of course, he told me not to expect it all the time...so I am working on lowering my standards in the future!

Wednesdays are always my day off, so I did some laundry and cleaning, decorated for fall and got a few other things done around the house. We had creamy bacon and mushroom pasta for dinner, then we went to encounter night at church. It was a night of worship and prayer. We had a great time, strengthened our relationship with our new church family and got to connect with a few more people. The evening was a little rough to begin with, but it got better as it went on.

One of our cute, little,
 free snowmen!
On Thursday I worked and Jonathan spent the day at home. He did dishes, watched the Browns and hung out at home. After I got home I was all done for the whole weekend! Friday I spent the day reading while Jonathan completed his work week. I also made some snowmen for decoration for youth group. It was a great day of relaxing. After Jonathan was done, we watched some Masked Singer while we made dinner. Mom and Dad came over for some spicy chicken and corn chowder and games. We ate, had some apple pie for dessert, played Splendor and Napoleon, and caught up on life. It was a great evening.

Saturday morning Jonathan made omelettes for breakfast after we finally woke up. We slept in, relaxed and then ended up organizing all of our files and paperwork into our new filing cabinet. Date night was Saturday evening, so we got ready and headed to Alliance. Lowes was our first stop and we got ourselves a new humidifier for our whole house. After that we went to Goodwill to get scarves for our snowmen, we found a really nice glass measuring bowl too, so we got that. We went and walked around Walmart for a little bit, looking for some inspiration for a few additional Christmas presents we have hanging in limbo. Applebees was on the menu for dinner and we were both very happy with the food we got, which is always touch and go for us there! The last few times, we have been really happy with what we got though. After dinner we headed over to the mall, did a little meandering over there and then went to watch the new movie Midway, which was really good. Jonathan loves movies like and and I don't mind them either. It was a fun time together and we haven't actually gone to a movie in quite awhile, so that made it even more fun!

Sunday was one of the first Sundays we have had at home for a really long time. We went to church together, which is something we always enjoy, then came home and had potato soup with biscuits. The afternoon was spent watching football (Jonathan), napping (me) and reading (Jonathan). Afterwards we did navigators, had spaghetti for dinner and went to youth group for the evening. It was a great start to the week and it is a crazy week here for sure! Hopefully you guys are having a good week so far! Thanksgiving is right around the corner (crazy, right?) and we are so ready for that!

Have a great week! Love you all!

Love,

Alli and Jonathan

Year 2, Weeks 26 and 27: Work, Work, Work

Winter for the Lil Landis fam!
So sorry to have taken so long to update everyone! It has been a crazy few weeks
Flowers from Jonathan - making the kitchen
look a little more cheery!
here...lots of work, lots of stuff to do and not a ton of excitement - thankfully!

We had some adjusting to do after the holidays since we had both been off a lot and spent a ton of time together. Going back to work and Jonathan going back to Celina was difficult to get used to again. Thankfully the week of the 6th through the 12th I had a short week and Jonathan didn't have to leave, so we soaked it up!

Monday we went out to dinner with the Landis family for my birthday. We went to Rocknee's - which was delicious and we hadn't been there for awhile. Afterward we went to Coldstone and continued to catch up - it was a great time!

The rest of the week was pretty standard! A lot of working, cleaning the house and getting everything back in order after all the craziness of Christmas. Our weekends have been spent with family, which has been amazing. We have had a lot of laughs from the kids (and the adults, if we are being honest), which is always refreshing.

The 11th we spent all day at the farm, then came home, got ready and went to church. Grace Chapel had church Saturday evening instead of Sunday morning, so the Landis' came to go with us! We also got our plane tickets booked for our vacation this spring, which is probably one of the most exciting things that has happened in the past two weeks. More details later - it's going to be so fun though.

January 13th through the 19th was when it all got crazy. I worked a lot, Jonathan went out to Celina - it felt like the longest week of our lives but also the shortest. So we worked a lot, my day off was spent cooking and getting everything ready for the weekend. Sunday I worked, we had youth group, then we had a good evening relaxing here at home. It was a good end to the week.

It hasn't been exciting, but we are hoping to get back into the swing of things here soon and will try to check in as often as we can! Thanks for following along with us!

Love you all,

Alli and Jonathan

Year 2, Week 23-25: Hectic, Happy Holidays!

It has been a WHILE since we have been on here! Three weeks, to be exact. Lots to catch you all up on, but we will just do the highlights since there have been so many days!

December 16-22:
Christmas spirit pharmacist Alli!
This week was a long week for me working, so there wasn't a whole lot that went on. Jonathan went out to Celina for his last time of the year and we hung out at home the rest of the time. Aunt Bev and Uncle Ron came to visit, which was a lot of fun since we rarely get to just sit and chat with them. The Haas family came to visit too since they hadn't seen our tree yet. I wrapped presents on the 19th...tried to convince Jonathan to open them right then and there, but he said no, so we waited.

It was my weekend to work and it wasn't super busy, so I got a lot done at work while Jonathan wrapped gifts, finished shopping for me and played some video games with the guys. Saturday night we made cutout and snicker doodle dough, prepped taco dip and jello for my work party and were thoroughly exhausted by bedtime! Sunday was a blast - Amy and I surprised our work crew with an evening out together. They had no idea what we were doing, simply that they needed to wear comfy clothes and that there would be food. Everyone met at 6 when we closed and then we all piled into cars and headed to Alliance to do an escape room, eat pizza and exchange gifts. It was a blast and we all enjoyed spending time together outside of work!

December 23-29
Christmas week was so much fun! I barely worked, so Jonathan and I spent a ton of time
together. Monday we made Christmas cookies, watched Charlie Brown Christmas, took some cookies and the schedule in for the girls at work and tried to relax a little. Our TV broke on Saturday, so Jonathan ran to get a new one on Sunday, but then on Monday we found out that the new one didn't work the way we expected...so that was pretty disappointing. We packaged it back up and Jonathan ended up taking it back on Thursday and getting a new one.

We spent Christmas Eve with the Landis family. It was a great day exchanging gifts, playing games and going to the Christmas eve service at their church! Christmas day we spent the morning here (pictures included below), woke up and opened presents, went on a walk, had breakfast burritos then went to the Haas farm to exchange gifts, play games and eat lunch. The evening was spent with the Dickerhoof side of the family - which is always a little wild with all the kids, but always enjoyable because we actually get to see everyone!

I worked Thursday, so Jonathan took care of the TV situation, he went on an adventure to go buy some skiis and weights, then went to the Landis' for dinner and basketball. Friday we went back to the Landis' again to exchange gifts with Dustin. We played a game, then went to the big family Christmas. It was so much fun! We got to see a lot of the cousins from out of town and I got to meet Kate - the only future family member I hadn't met yet! Both of us have been around for 5ish years, we just seem to have missed seeing each other!

Saturday was a pretty big day for us too. We went up to Canton so I could renew my CPR certification, which went pretty well and was a smooth process. After that we went to meet the Framily for Whirleyball. We had never played but it was a TON of fun! It was great to spend time with the fram, play a fun game and win a little! The teams were split up a lot of different ways and it was fun to play with everyone a little bit. After playing, we went to the Winking Lizard for dinner and then went to Mom and Dad's to watch a little bit of the OSU game. Sunday was a nice day at home. We went to church, cleaned up gifts, wrapped up in blankets because our heat was broken, then went to the youth group Christmas party. It was a great chance to re-charge after a packed-full crazy fun week!

Last week I was back to work, which I was not excited about...but getting back was really nice. I loved getting back into the groove of work. Monday we broke a record with our script count, so that was a little exhausting. Jonathan worked Monday too, then he watched a movie and did some recovering at home. Tuesday I worked again and Jonathan had a half day, then went to the Haas party for New Years Eve, I met him there after my shift. It was my mom's side of the family so it was nice to get some bonus time with everyone since we aren't always together a lot and we miss those people!

Wednesday was my birthday and I wanted to spend the day with my family. So we woke up, went to Mom and Dad's, then headed to Alliance for lunch. Don Panchos wasn't open (and that's where I really wanted to go), but we went to Chipotle instead then went to watch the new Jumanji. It was hysterical and we enjoyed the time together, then we went back to their house, played some games, ate dinner and retired early since everyone was tired.

Thursday was another day off for the two of us, so we cleaned up our Christmas stuff, went to get my driver's license approved, played some games and ate well. The weekend was pretty typical - I worked, Jonathan did some cleaning for me, finished a book, played some guitar and relaxed at home on Friday. Then Saturday he went to hang out with my family and get some stuff done. I put a roast in the crockpot and we had Philly Cheesesteak French Dip Sandwiches then played a game and watched some football. We finished Sunday off with some youth group and then really started back to normality on Monday.

We are so excited to see what 2020 holds! Hopefully you all feel the same way! We will do our best to keep you all updated with what is going on in our lives as the year goes on! There could be some pretty exciting stuff coming up...so hang on tight!

Love you all!

- Alli and Jonathan

Jonathan made this little tray for me to keep everything organized on our table! Isn't it darling?

Year 6, May:

Hello, there! I must say this month will most likely be told in pictures more than words because it has been both a whirlwind and a slow pac...
