Year 5, Weeks 48-50: Work, Garden, Play

Hello, there! I hope summer is treating you well, we are in full swing here! School is finished for Amelia, so she now knows her entire alphabet and the numbers 0-9, so that is one less thing on our plates for the summer. None too soon either because it is certainly time for the garden. Lettuce, cilantro and snap peas are in full swing, which we are enjoying, and I think the green beans will be ready to roll here in a week or so.

Week 48: June 10th - 16th

Jonathan had to go to South Central on Monday, so I enjoyed some time with the kids. We had to go grab a few things at Yoder's, but I got quite a few things caught up while we were home. Home days are very good for the three of us! On Tuesday, Jonathan had a dentist appointment in the morning and Mom had the kids while I went to work.

Wednesday was the homecoming parade, which was a blast with the kids. Amelia wanted to wear her headphones the whole time, but William didn't wear his the entire time. Our boy would have been fine just sitting by the road watching cars go by, so for them to go by and honk, sound their sirens and drive slowly? He was so thrilled. It was a fantastic day for him!

Little Man and I had NAET in the morning, so Amelia hung out with Nana. We went to the library to grab some books, I got the baby girl and we had a fantastic time together, me and the kids! I worked a short day on Friday and then I came home and we had cowboy chicken quesadillas. The kids had a good day with the girls and then we enjoyed a great weekend.

On Saturday we went out to Jonathan's grandpa's and spent the day with his dad and grandpa there on the farm. The kids had a great time riding in the tractors! For lunch we went to the Dariette - always a treat! In the evening we went swimming after supper, then came home for bath time and went out to the homecoming in the evening. We only went for the duck race and then we wound up going to the actual homecoming too! Amelia saw these little cars and wanted to go on a ride...so we allowed her to do that! It was a fantastic evening.
Sunday we had church, then naps, and spent the day on the Haas farm! we got to eat with my parents and grandparents, which was a lot of fun. We swam a little bit, did some shopping and enjoyed a great Father's Day weekend!

Week 49: June 17th - 23rd

Double long day week. Not my favorite, that's for sure! The kids stayed with Grandma Landis for the morning, then the roofing guy came to see us for a minute. After that, they came to visit me at work. It was the start of a pretty challenging time for me. We found out they are going to be closing all but four Rite Aids in Ohio, so that was when we started all the craziness that has been the last two weeks. It is going to get better, though! Just adjusting for the new circumstances and then we can overcome them. Jonathan has three projects due, work is crazy for me, it is just a lot of craziness in our house! Survival is the goal. Tuesday I had two interviews, Jonathan was home and the kids got to hang out with Megan...which was a treat for them.

On Wednesday we had a swim date with our friends, we had an appointment with a window guy and had some sandwiches for supper. I had an update call with one of my partners. It was a continued long day, but they will not be long forever! We had another swim date on Thursday while Jonathan was at band and William and I had another appointment in the morning to try to get these allergies straightened out! I worked in the garden in the evening after we got home to get everything done.

Friday night we went grocery shopping as a family, which was great and we went swimming again in the afternoon. It was a long week with all the hot weather, but we made it through. Thank goodness for the pool, that is for sure! It continued through the weekend, lots of swimming. Jonathan made burgers and we had steak alfredo on Saturday, lots of grilling, and he mowed, it was a delicious time for us! Sunday was church, lunch, naps, visit to the farm and some dinner! We were glad to have some good family time before the next week started. Very tired we have been. Lots of work both home and at work!

Week 50: June 24th - 30th

Monday night was date night! We went to Bob Evans, ran some errands, did some shopping and got a few things we needed. It is always enjoyable to spend time together! Work was rough for me on Tuesday and it was rough for Jonathan too! The kids hung out with Megan because Mom and Dad were seeing our sweet girl Hazel down in TN! Jonathan did some milking and William started with his GI tract struggle which lasted all week - poor man.

On Wednesday I went into work in the morning to clean up and the kids hung out in the shot room with breakfast...it was the highlight of Amelia's day! We had chicken enchiladas for supper and I got the flowerbeds and garden weeded and cleaned up. On Thursday I had an appointment and the kids stayed with Megan again, which is always a treat. We had a good evening together for supper and enjoyed each other before my long, long, long weekend at work.

It was a tough weekend for sure. Jonathan had a hard weekend with work. Pam came to stay with the kids and we both got to get our stuff done. I went in early every day in the weekend and still had to go in early on Monday to feel good about it! The kids got to see Nana and Papa on Saturday, which made them very happy! Sunday evening we were all glad to be together and have a chill evening. In the evening we relaxed with some food and were thankful for our time as a family.

I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful weather her! It has been hot, hoping for something more mild here in the next few weeks!

Love,

Jonathan, Allison, Amelia and William
