I think last time I just decided to split the difference...so this is going to be a long one and is a little late/possibly on time...but we will see what we can do about getting it done and doing it promptly! It's summer now, so there is a lot going on.
Week 1: May 22 - 28
Monday was a day off for me and I had a hair appointment during William's first nap. Amelia came with me, so she ended up getting a trim of her hair as well! She thought it was great, no tears or anything. Jonathan mowed in the evening, we had cajun pork chops for dinner and the kids were a little under the weather, but they seemed to get over it pretty quickly.
I was off on Tuesday because I took a vacation day. We went to visit Jonathan's Aunt Julie at the farm in the evening because she was in town. Two of his other aunts visited as well, so it was a lot of fun to see everyone and chat! The kids seemed to be recovering and I got a nap, so everyone was feeling better. It was marvelous to have an extra day for a week!
Wednesday had a lot going on, but it was all good stuff! Jonathan had a site visit, so we went to Mom and Dad's in the evening for Papa John's...making it a really great night!!! Jonathan came over after he was finished and we got to hang out for a little bit before we took my SUV in to get it worked on. Thursday was busy with treatment, band and the bug guys, but not that exciting otherwise!
Friday was a day that I worked, then we relaxed in the evening and got ready for the weekend. It was a pretty busy weekend as we went to the zoo on Saturday morning! First, we met the Landis siblings for breakfast, then we all went to the zoo. It was so much fun! Amelia loved the zoo, specifically the flamingos, penguins, turtles and the monkeys. The monkeys were probably the biggest hit! On the way home we stopped at a friends garage sale, then came home for leftovers.
On Sunday we had church, babies took naps, we worked in the garden, then we went over to my aunt's for a little Memorial Day cook out. It was super refreshing. My parents were out of the country, so we were glad to spend some time with family! Both Jonathan and I took the week off, so we were in total vacation mode!
Week 46: May 29 - June 4
Our staycation was -- best decision we have had! On Monday we did some potty training, a lot of potty training this week. We had chicken enchiladas, changed bedding, cleaned windows and went to the Paris Memorial Day Parade, the ice cream was delicious! It was a great day of relaxing and getting things accomplished.
Tuesday we had an appointment with our attorney to get some paperwork done, then we went home for lunch and naps. I took a nap, Jonathan worked on the flower beds, then we had some burgers for supper. In the evening, we went to Lowe's to get a few things and then got Orange Leaf for a treat for Amelia. It was a great situation until I called it froyo...then she was upset that she "didn't get ice cream"...which was a discussion we had the whole ride home from Alliance.
Wednesday was a home day and Jonathan had a lot of projects that he worked on. He got the property weedeated and finished working on the baby gate at the top of the stairs. In the evening he had to milk, so we all went swimming when he was done. It was a great way to spend our time since it was 80-95 degrees outside all week.
Some of our friends have started detailing cars, so we took ours down over our time off. Amelia and I left early for a play date, then Jonathan and William came to get us and drop the car off. On the way home we went to Walker's Cafe for lunch - it was absolutely delicious and we loved the atmosphere! During nap time we moved Jonathan's office down to what used to be our bedroom so he could start tearing out the upstairs bedrooms.
Roger's was our Friday adventure! Jonathan had never been and I hadn't been there in a while. We had a great time! Lots of thrift shopping, lots of produce shopping and tons of random things to shop for. The donuts were amazing, I must say! In the evening I prepped for breakfast the next day. We had friends over for breakfast and a little bit of fun. It was a great morning, then Jonathan mowed in the afternoon and we went to get groceries and Applebees for supper. It was a super day...Amelia was just a little disappointed there weren't any apples to eat at Applebee's. Sunday was our last day of vacation, we went to church, then got to see Nana and Papa (super huge deal), then got pizza for supper and dropped my car off for detailing! It was a good week at home as a family. We were so refreshed by our time together!
Week 47: June 5 - 11
Monday was a big day of tasks for me since I was still off but Jonathan was back to work. I got everything ready to go back to work, made dinner, finished some laundry, got groceries and then we went back to pick my car up after it was all detailed. It was BEAUTIFUL! Still is, to be honest! The first day back from work is always daunting and I worked 5 days this week, but God was so good and they were amazing days. Super smooth, very pleasant, I just really enjoyed my days. I missed my babies, but am thankful it wasn't complete torture. Jonathan got some time with the kids while I was gone, so that's always helpful!
Like I said earlier, I worked a lot of days. Thursday and Friday were long days, Saturday and Sunday were normal though, so Jonathan had the kids a lot over the weekend. He had a visit from his parents Friday evening, then William started to get sick. He had some diarrhea on Friday and was not himself at all on Saturday, so we took him to the doctor and she told us what to watch for. Jonathan spent some time working on getting the barn ready for the wedding coming up, then in the evening we worked on the garden after our anniversary party for my grandparents! It was a great evening with family.
Sunday was when the real storm hit. We got McDonald's for dinner, watched some Clifford and set up our new wagon. It finally started to rain, which was a plus, but Amelia got sick after we put her to bed and slept through the puking, so she was covered in it. Full new bedding, fresh bath, threw out the pillow, she didn't want to go to bed again, but thankfully was okay once she went back down. It was a pretty difficult evening, but, thankfully, we had a pretty good night sleep.
Week 48: June 12 - 18
This week can basically be summed up as a bummer. We were all sick at one point or another or through the entire week. Jonathan was sick all day on Monday while I put up 16 quarts of strawberries between jam and frozen strawberries. He slept a lot, felt horrible, it was a long day for him, poor guy. Amelia seemed to be perfectly healthy through the whole day though, so that was nice!
On Tuesday Jonathan was feeling well enough to work and I had work, so I took the kids to Faith's. So much for that plan though, since Amelia puked at Faith's by 9:30 and he had to go get her. Apparently the whole day went super well, she had a great day with Daddy and he loved having her around, so we are thankful it went smoothly! By Wednesday I was pretty exhausted and wasn't feeling great either. William was still sick, it was a bit of a mess, but we got through it. After I took a nap I felt great, so we ended up getting to go to the parade in town, which was a blast. I was off on Thursday too, so while Jonathan was away at a job site I went shopping for Fathers day for him. Amelia was so funny and we had a good time on our little mini shopping trip around Minerva.
Friday was a working on the barn day, but Saturday we went to Cleveland to visit Sara, Dustin and Jonathan's parents. I didn't feel very well, but thankfully felt a lot better by the time we got there. We had a picnic lunch and then spent some time at the beach. Amelia REALLY wanted to go in, but unfortunately it was only 75 degrees and the water probably wasn't much warmer! We had a great time anyway! The kids barely napped, but we pushed through. I made dinner, then we put the kids to bed a little early, watched a movie, had some ice cream and had a good night's sleep.
Sunday was my day. We got up and went to church as a family, celebrated Father's day in the morning and enjoyed some time together. In the evening we went to see my dad and had supper together...but of course, I had to get sick at some point, so that's what happened! The night before my double 13 hour shifts I was pretty sick for about 3 hours, then it all subsided and I got to sleep with no more issues. SUPER thankful for that! It was a tough week, but we are much better and glad to be done with it!
Hopefully everyone else is enjoying the start of summer and keeping themselves healthy! We love you all!
Love,
Jonathan, Allison, Amelia and William
