Year 3, Weeks 35-37: Beach Days!

We are trying to get back on track here! Life gets crazy, but we still try to show up and do this when we can! Our life isn't terribly interesting, but here we go!

Week 35: March 14-20

This was one of my long days, so Jonathan and Dad worked in the apartment in the evening while Amelia hung out with Granny! Tuesday was another long day, but I had a bunch of visitors! Faith and Amelia came with Faith's sister-in-law and niece, so that was a lot of fun! Then Jonathan came to see me after he went to get a haircut, so it was a fantastic day. Since I had two long days in a row I took a short break and went to Subway for lunch. It was a good break and a tasty treat!

On Wednesday we had a good home day. We went on a walk, hung out at home, visited the library and Granny's attic, it was quite relaxing! Jonathan had to go away in the evening on a site visit, but when he got home we had beef enchiladas and DQ for dessert! Amelia was very tired, for her afternoon nap she marched herself over to her crib, grabbed her binky and sat down and looked at me, so she slept for a really long time in the afternoon! Obviously she was very tired!

Our Thursday was normal, Amelia stayed with Granny while Jonathan was at band and after work I hung out with the two of them for a little while! It was a refreshing evening and I was headed into a long weekend, so that made it even better!

We had a fantastic long weekend! The Catlett family came over for corned beef, cabbage and potatoes on Friday night and it was a really good time. We enjoyed great fellowship and some relaxing time with friends! I also got the house cleaned that day, so that is always a plus!

Saturday was a date day for Jonathan and I. Amelia stayed at Granny and Papa's and we went to Amish country. Our main goal was go look at different hardwoods at the lumber store, so it was a fact-finding mission. After that, we went to Charm Harness and Boot to look at boots for me and then went to get lunch. We went to an Amish buffet...I hadn't been to a buffet in a long time, it was kind of tasty! We were not disappointed. In the evening we had a wedding for one of my co-worker's sons. It was a wild wedding! Nothing like I had ever been to before. "Wow!" Is all we can say. It was a great night and we really enjoyed our time together and with some of my work friends.

Sunday is almost always a family home day after church and that's what we did! After church Jonathan took a nap while I relaxed, then made some granola, crescents and packed food for the next day. We also threw some stuff together for vacation too since we were headed into my long week.

Week 36: March 21-27

As I mentioned earlier, this was my long week and also the week before our trip to Florida! It was a bit of a whirlwind, but we made it through! Monday was a short day for me, so we got a few things done that evening that needed to get done. Tuesday was long though. It was a long day and really just a long week. People were mean! It was super odd, no one really knew what was happening. I had a few things that had to be done but I worked on them throughout the week and got them done in plenty of time!

Wednesday was prep day! We had a lot to get done, but we won! Amelia and I went to meet a friend's new baby, which was so sweet...Amelia is still struggling to learn how to be gentle, but we are working on it. The Traverse went in for an oil change, I got laundry done, we got prepared for a birthday we had coming up and I got a schedule made for April and May. In the evening, we packed and got everything ready for vacation! Thursday was a good day. We had fiesta chicken, relaxed and finished packing so Mom and Dad could come and pick up our luggage!

It was a long weekend, but I made it through. We got everything done and I was finally done with work on Sunday. When I got home, we did a final pack and made sure our carry-ons were all ready for the trip!

Week 37: March 28 - April 3

Monday we flew out! Our flight left at 6am...so we left at 2:30am and made it to the airport and our terminal by about 4:30am, so we were a bit early, but it gave us time for breakfast! We had an awesome breakfast and a great flight. Our layover in Atlanta was three hours early, but we got there early, so it was a little longer. It felt long, but we got a snack and enjoyed our time with Amelia. She didn't sleep much...maybe an hour between us leaving our house and us landing in Florida...which is not enough! We landed at 11:30 and Mom and Dad were there to pick us up! Amelia slept the whole way to the house and we stopped and got Arby's so we weren't starving anymore. When we got there we went down to the beach, swam in the pool and unpacked. We were also surprised with the news that Shem and Karah are getting married! So that was a big topic of conversation over the vacation and we are all thrilled with this development! She is wonderful and we are all blessed by their relationship. The Graggs were there and hung out with us, so that was a ton of fun!

On Tuesday we went to the beach and enjoyed that for a little while, of course the baby changes the beach a lot! She LOVES the water, but she just can't handle it as long as we could, so we took her back for a nap and to eat lunch, then Jonathan went to play bocce ball on the beach and I took a nap. For dinner we had Maui's busstop, we went to play minigolf and got milkshakes afterward, it was awesome!

There was a storm coming in on Wednesday, so that changed the landscape of the beach a little bit! It was very windy and the sea was not terribly happy, so we didn't go in the water that day (mainly because we weren't allowed) then we chilled at the house. For dinner we had Pompano Joe's, which was delicious. It was a seafood place...of course, I got chicken alfredo...but it was a fantastic decision, even though everyone made fun of me! When we got home we played games, which was a bit of a highlight for both of us!

Very early in the morning on Thursday it stormed...I didn't notice, but Jonathan did! Since the water was still dangerous, we went to Seaside for some shopping in the afternoon. It was an okay trip, neat little place, but not really our cup of tea! Amelia and I took naps when we got home, then we went to Blake's baseball game after Amelia got up! Once the game was over, we went to see Marci and Brian's house! It is absolutely beautiful and it was fun to hear about their vision. After that we went to Pepper's for Mexican...which was delicious. Amelia and I went to bed as soon as we got back because we were so exhausted, which was very helpful and made a big difference for Friday!

The morning was spent on the beach, then we had some pool time, packed up and let Amelia get a nap. After she woke up, we finished packing then left her with Granny so we could go get some souvenirs and some lunch. We grabbed some Chipotle, then headed to the airport. We had a long trip home. Our flight was supposed to leave at 5:50pm, but it left a about 15 minutes late, which was okay because we had an hour and a half at Atlanta...of course...we ended up being at Atlanta for two and a half hours because our 9:30pm flight didn't leave until 10:30pm...which meant we didn't land until 12am. Amelia Baby did not sleep much. She finally crashed watching Frozen on the second flight where Jonathan and I had to sit apart from each other. Thankfully, she was a little angel for me. She and I both slept on the ride home. We got home at 2am and were a little worse for the wear, but we made it.

Saturday was spent getting caught up. We DID go grocery shopping, but that's about the only constructive thing that happened. Otherwise, I got finances caught up and we watched all the shows we had to catch up on. It was a good, tired day. We had another one on Sunday. After how much we had pushed Amelia it didn't seem fair to push her on Sunday too, so we took the day off from church, Jonathan made pancakes, we had dried beef gravy for dinner and got everything ready for the rest of the week. While Amelia took a nap, Jonathan spent some time in the apartment too, which was a double win! It was an awesome week, but we were all very tired!

Overall, the past three weeks have been full of a little bit of everything! We are loving the spring weather that is starting to hint that it might stick around at some point...it always does, so I am feeling optimistic! I hope everyone else is staying warm and enjoying the change in seasons!

Love you all!

Allison, Jonathan and Amelia
