Year 3, Week 33-34: Short and Sweet

Trying to get back on track now, so this will only be two weeks, but we are doing our best! It has been a good two weeks for us...and I just want to say...I had the blog typed a lot earlier than it was posted! So I will not take the credit for it being posted late.

Week 33: February 28th - March 6th

This was a long week for me, never a ton of fun, but they really do go very fast and I got a ton of stuff done! After inventory there is always a ton of stuff to do that has been ignored. Monday was a short day, so Amelia was home with Pam. I got home at 6:30, we had french onion swiss steak with mashed potatoes and corn, then we got to read her new book! She is enrolled in Dolly Parton's Imagination Library, so she gets new books every now and then in the mail, which is super fun! This time she got the book "Where Is Your Nose?" which is so incredibly appropriate for her right now! After she went to bed we spent some time ordering different items that she needed for the next phase and for vacation.

Tuesday was a normal day for our family. Mom was off work for this week after her rough week the week before, so she helped us out on Wednesday when we had our tax appointment. After that, we had a nice, relaxing day! We ate garlic lovers chicken and amish noodles for dinner, I also spent some time preparing a casserole for the next night. Thursday was nice and relaxing because Jonathan had a short band, so we had the evening together! Mom and Dad even stopped by to say hi and brought us some of our meat!

My long weekend is always long, but it was made a little better! Mom had a doctor's appointment when Shem and Karah got in town, so they came to see me Friday night. Jonathan had a late interview after work, but it went really well, so that was helpful! Amelia just hung out at Faith's for a little longer! Jonathan worked in the apartment a little bit after Amelia went to bed.

On Saturday, Jonathan took Amelia to his parents for making syrup. It was a beautiful day, so they had a good time! She didn't get a lot of sleep, but we toughed it out. Mom, Dad, Shem and Karah came over to visit for a little bit and Amelia really showed off! She was being such a ham and just adored Karah. She even did all the motions for "Where Is Your Nose" which we got on Monday! So that was awesome!

Sunday is our relaxing day, ideally. Sometimes that gets difficult, but we try! We had fajitas after I got home for dinner and enjoyed some time as a family before Jonathan went out for work.

March 7th - March 13th

Jonathan had a great trip to Celina! He hung out with Dillon on Monday night while Amelia and I were enjoying a day together. We went to Aunt Mabel's with the fam for breakfast - which was delicious. After that we wrapped meat, then Mom, Amelia and I went up to Alliance. Amelia and Mom hung out with Grandma and Grandpa while I went grocery and clothes shopping. I had a good trip and they had a good trip, it was all good! In the evening, Amelia and I went over to see them a little bit, then we came home and relaxed for a little while. When Amelia went to bed I did some reading, some continuing education and got a few other things completed. I just enjoyed relaxing!

Tuesday Jonathan got a raise, so that was awesome! Then he came home, picked the baby up at Mom and Dad's and brought her home. I worked and had to do employee reviews, which is always another task! On Wednesday we finally got to spend some time as a family! It was a wonderful day with wonderful time together. We organized the freezer and the kitchen, spent some time together and had ham fried rice for dinner. It was a good day.

On Thursday my boss visited work and I got a raise, so we had a great financial week if nothing else! We had a virtual meeting with Charlie and ate leftovers for dinner. Friday was another short day for me and decided to go to diner afterward! It was delicious and a blast and we enjoyed every minute of it. Amelia did great and ate a ton.

Our weekend was a lot of fun. We actually got to be together and hang out, which was a complete win! I cooked a ton, but it was definitely worth it. On Saturday we had baked oatmeal, tater tot casserole and dairyland confetti chicken. We worked on the bathroom a little bit and then played SushiGo and watched "A Few Good Men" after Amelia went to bed! Sunday was another relaxing day for Amelia and I and Jonathan went shopping with Dad for the apartment after church. Amelia and I relaxed at home, I even got a little nap! We had polish burgers and pizza rolls with Mom and Dad for dinner, then spent the evening at home together!

Not a very exciting two weeks, but that is kind of the way we like it! Hope you are all staying warm but also enjoying spring...depending on the day! We are enjoying the nice weather we are having at the moment!

Love,

Allison, Jonathan and Amelia

Year 3, Weeks 29-32: February

Well, hello! I am a week late...it was a rough week last week, so you get a bonus week this week, you're welcome! Basically, this is going to cover the whole month of February, and I am just going to dive right in!

Week 29: January 31-February 6th

One of my double 13 weeks, which can get long, but we made it through! While I was at work Monday and Tuesday, Jonathan went to Lowe's to get some shopping done for the apartment and was up doing some work there. Amelia went without her a binky a few nights this week! No, it didn't sick...but now we know she CAN do it...she just doesn't like it! This was also around the time that she was coming off 20 days of antibiotics and finishing the transition from breast milk to whole milk, so it was a bit of a challenge. She ended up having some potty problems. The constipation started Tuesday night and continued into my day off on Wednesday.

In a stroke of luck, she had her follow up scheduled for Wednesday about her ear infections! After a rough morning, we went in and saw the nurse practitioner and we got some answers. Ear infection was all cleared up and we haven't had any further problems. I talked to the doctor and she said if we could get her to eat beans that would help. As an act of complete sacrifice, I endured a visit to hot heads to get a burrito bowl for me and some additional beans for her...needless to say, we were both extremely happy with the outcome. Dad found us some garage doors, which was exciting, Amelia and I went to the library, then we went to calling hours in the evening and DQ afterward!

Thursday was really bad weather wise. The roads were super bad and the ice was just terrible, so we kept Amelia home. Jonathan was supposed to go out to ONU for a career fair, which was cancelled, so that allowed him to stay home and get his project done while Amelia hung out with Mom for a few hours. I got home a little early since it was so bad and there was NO ONE at the pharmacy.

Weekends off are the best, so we enjoyed our day at home on Friday. There was a ton of snow, it was crazy, but we had a fantastic time. I did a lot of baking for our time at the farm on Saturday - rhubarb loaf and apple muffins! We also had seafood nachos and pot pie for food for the day - lots of great food for the family. Amelia helped me in the kitchen from her high-chair! In the evening, Jonathan and I watched "I Still Believe", which was a sad, but great movie!

Saturday was at the farm, then we had leftovers, watched the Olympics and really tried to win the binky fight...then we decided to try a different method...yet to be seen. Sunday was our first morning church since March 2020, so that was awesome! Amelia was beat, so lots of sleep for her, then laundry for me, smoked pork chops for us and shepherd's pie for dinner. Mom and Dad came to visit in the evening, which we all enjoyed!

Week 30: February 7-13th

This was my long week, always a challenge, but we made it and we made it well! Monday is a short day, so we got to have the whole evening as family time! Jonathan started the crockpot at lunch so we could have potluck potatoes for dinner, my first time getting creative with it and it was definitely a win! Amelia had a great evening, she even started saying sock and was trying to put hers on. Tuesday was a massive day for Jonathan, he went out to ONU for the rescheduled career fair, then came back in time to pick Amelia up, it was just a long day for everyone. He even went to bed early.

Wednesday was a big day for us, but also a relaxing day, which sounds confusing but isn't. We paid off our car, which was a really big deal for us and we were quite excited about it! The evening was spent relaxing, watching the olympics and celebrating with DQ!

The rest of the week I worked, so Thursday night Mom and Dad were here to hang out with Amelia while Jonathan was at band, then Amelia started playing peek-a-boo with me a little later in the evening. My weekend went well preparing for inventory, and Jonathan and Dad spent some time working on the apartment on Friday! It is looking really good and open! Saturday night we had steak quesadillas then went to the Rich's for an impromptu little party, so that was fun! Jonathan was up at the farm for a little bit, but overall, he and Amelia had a good day and she got great naps!

Sunday was our first week of Jonathan playing at church and me working on a Sunday morning, which actually went really well! I liked seeing everyone before I went to work, Amelia and I had a great morning and she got to take a nap later in the day. Jonathan worked on the apartment a little bit before his parents got there in the afternoon. They watched the superbowl with us and had some pizza for dinner.

Week 31: February 14-20th

Valentine's day started off with a work meeting for me (yay) that was also planned by me, so I can't really complain about it. Jonathan had to go to a site visit in Ravenna in the afternoon, so we both had some odd work stuff, but it was a great Monday regardless! We had Swedish Meatball Pasta Bake and I made blueberry banana muffins for our breakfasts. I went grocery shopping and picked up a few other things as well. Overall, it was a very productive day! Jonathan even brought me home some flowers, which I still have in our kitchen today...over two weeks later...and they still look beautiful! (Yes, they are real.)

On Wednesday we had a meeting with our financial advisors, so even though I planned to make a stew for dinner, we had some quesadillas instead and called it good. We ate a super late dinner, shared with Amelia and watched some skiing to top off the evening. I got a few other things done around the house and we had to take our car in for a recall, but otherwise it was a pretty smooth and easy day!

Thursday I had to go to the dentist's office to have some of my teeth polished since apparently I have been stressed to the point I have started chipping them. Thankfully, they were an easy fix. Good thing too, because I took Amelia with me. She did GREAT! It was very rainy, but she seemed to enjoy being there and loved watching all the people around! Afterward, I went to work and I got to get my new employee hired, which was a complete win for us. She has been great so far, so I can't wait to see what happens next! Amelia really started toddling on this day. With the right motivation, she was walking wherever she wanted. Main motivators? Her baby and food. A girl after my own heart. Mom and Dad stopped by to see her walk, then headed out pretty quick. It was actually the last day we saw Mom for a little while because she ended up getting really sick!

Friday was a long day for all of us for some reason. There was a lot of flooding due to the rain on Thursday, Amelia was teething, it was just a long one. We had Po-boys waiting for when I got home though, so that made it nice! Just throw the sandwiches together and eat dinner. Saturday was the highlight for us that week though. Jonathan ran to Lisbon in the morning, then he came back and we headed to Canton! We did some shopping for Amelia and for me, picking up a few things for our upcoming adventures! The weather is starting to change and we need to get Amelia ready for some warmer times. I was absolutely exhausted when we got home, so I ended up taking a nap. Of course, Amelia should also have been exhausted...but she did not take a nap.

Sunday was a great day for relaxing. Amelia was absolutely beat due to lack of sleep on Saturday and missing her morning nap on Sunday, so she slept really well and took a fantastic nap. I prepped a lot for the week, got lunches and dinners packed as well as Amelia's basket and everything else we needed for the week. I made sausage gravy and biscuits for dinner and we enjoyed some time at home as a family. You will notice this is how most of our Sundays end and that is the way we like them! Always nice to start the week off on a good note...and family time is a good note here!

Week 32: February 21-27

This was a real zinger as far as weeks go! First, it was a double 13 for me to start with. Second, I had inventory on Wednesday, meaning I had to be back at work at 7am that morning. Third, Mom was in and out of the hospital over the weekend and, when she went back on Monday, found out she had some other stuff going on. So we really got hit hard! Monday and Tuesday were super long and I didn't get much sleep Monday night, but my team is awesome at work and they helped me out a ton. Couldn't ask for better! Tuesday was a fact finding mission when it came to Mom, so we got awesome news that it will be an easy fix, so we are just praising God for what He is doing there! Still a few more steps, but it has been good news so far and we are praying it continues. Jonathan helped out with the milking on Monday and Tuesday since they were up at the hospital and we just plugged away!

Wednesday was a super early start, but my inventory went well. It is always a bit of a game for me, trying to get my inventory to come in lower than the year before. Thankfully, there is a lot of room to shrink, so it went smoothly. Our car went to the mechanic, which was a really smooth visit, thankfully! Mom got to come home, so that was a plus and we had some of our good friends over for dinner - exactly what we needed! Such an encouraging evening. I had already planned to do very little that day, so I even snuck a nap in there! Score!

Jonathan got out of work a little early on Thursday to run back in to Lisbon. He had to go get some more tools and needed to get things squared away for our car, so it was fortunate he could get down there on a day we didn't have to coordinate around anything else! I appreciated him being able to do that. Mom was feeling a lot better, so Amelia got to go stay with her for a little while and that made everyone feel better!

Friday was a day off for me. We are starting to just think of them as recovery days at this point. I recovered, did some cleaning, prepared some chili for our time at the farm on Saturday and we had a rep from Pella come quote us for our windows. We will not be using his services, but he was very kind! Definitely a rude awakening for what it would cost to install windows, but we are glad to be learning so we can figure out how to move forward! After Jonathan finished with work, we took Amelia to Mom and Dad's for a few hours while we went out for dinner at Cibo's, our Valentine's day date destination. It was fantastic and we enjoyed having a date night! I can't even remember the last time the two of us actually went out, so it was a lot of fun!

Saturday was a big day, but it went well and we enjoyed spending time with family. Once we got home and got everything put away, we got the baby ready for bed, put her down and then had Hardee's for dinner. It was cold and not very good, but we ate it anyway and had some ice cream for snack. I wasn't feeling the greatest, so we watched Men in Black and rested.

Sunday morning I got an appointment with a Teladoc. It was actually a lot better than I thought it would be! I was pretty sure I had strep throat and he agreed, so we got that taken care of pretty quickly and then I could go about my life! We enjoyed a relaxing afternoon at home, got to do some work in the apartment and allowed Amelia a nice, long afternoon nap that she desperately needed!

Overall, it has been a great month! I feel like Amelia has grown so much and it is an absolute blast at our house. Just keeps getting better, that is for sure! Thanks for loving us well. We love you all! Enjoy this new season that is upon us, I really think it might be spring now!

Love,

Allison, Jonathan and Amelia
