We are on a roll now! Here we are AGAIN, basically on time! How crazy!
Week 26: January 10-16
Diving right in! It has been a pretty crazy few weeks for us! Jonathan has been traveling back and forth from Ravenna working on his project there, so that has allowed him to get out of the house a little bit more! Monday and Tuesday were my long days, so Jonathan and Amelia got to talk to Dillon for most of the evening! I think everyone enjoyed that time! Amelia goes to Faith's house on my long Monday and Tuesday, but Pam and Emily wanted to watch Amelia, so we changed the schedule around to accommodate them. After Amelia went to bed, Jonathan went back to work, poor guy has had a ton of work to do, so he has put a ton of hours in! Work was pretty normal for me, nothing too exciting.
Wednesday, Amelia and I had a lot of errands to run, so we started fairly early (for us) and went into town! I picked up my glasses from the eye doctor, they were actually right this time and I have worn them a lot since then! After that, we went shopping for her birthday party to get salad tongs, plates and things for that and then stopped to see Mom at work! Once we got everything done, we came home and got some things ready for the weekend. We prepped crackers for 8 pounds of meatloaf, planned what we needed for beef, had Philly Cheesesteaks for dinner and topped the day off with some DQ!
Thursday, was Amelia's first birthday and Shem came in town with Karah! So we were all excited about that! After work, I picked up Amelia and Jonathan to go to Mom and Dad's for dinner with the whole fam, Karah and the Prusias! It was awesome! We had a blast...and it was an awesome start to the best weekend! Amelia had her first ice cream and she was definitely a fan.
I was off work on Friday and that was probably the least awesome day of the weekend. Amelia had her one year appointment, which went really well other than the fact that she had another infection AND she had just finished up 10 days of an antibiotic! Needless to say, we started more antibiotics and had to schedule another appointment to make sure she actually got better. When we got home, I had to make brine for corned beef, get ready for Saturday's events and tried to get the house a little straightened up. We had Connie's funeral Friday evening, which was difficult. Our family went to pay our respects and support John, Jess and Aaron, then we went to Taggarts for dinner, which was delicious.
Saturday morning was super early, but it went really well! I was the first person in the shed and we were all done by around 12pm. Amelia had a rough time going down for her morning nap, but once I got her down, Karah and I wrapped my half of beef and we had it done by lunch! We ended up getting done at a really good pace and were home in time for Amelia's afternoon nap. After I got all the meat put away, made meatloaf and put brisket in the brine for corned beef, Jonathan got home and helped get the house cleaned for the party.
Amelia's birthday celebration was on Sunday. I had stuffed shells and lasagna roll-ups ready to go in the oven and made some green bean casserole. Jonathan went in to DDM to get helium put in the balloons and to get salad stuff. Mom, Dad, Shem and Karah came a little early and helped get the tables and chairs set up. It was VERY helpful to have them here! Mom brought the cake, which was perfect, then we waited for everyone else to get here! We ended up eating lunch around noon, then Amelia opened her gifts, ate cake (not as good as ice cream, she's a smart girl), then everyone hung out for a little while before they left so Amelia could have her afternoon nap! She had such a wonderful time surrounded by the people she loves and the people who love her! Our little bookworm had a fantastic first birthday celebration and we are so thankful for all the people who have helped all of us get through this first year!
Week 27: January 17-23
Monday was the MASSIVE snow storm! We ended up getting 12-16 inches, which was wonderful. Everyone was off work, except Jonathan and I, so Amelia was going to Mom's house, she and Dad came, picked me up, took me to work, then went back home. Karah and Shem were still home, so after I was done with work, they all came over for leftovers and we got to spend some time together as a family before they left for home. I got a ton done at work since no one was coming in for anything! Cleaned a lot of files out and organized all of my 2021 files. Jonathan worked a long day, finished the project, then went out to shovel and came to pick me up when I was done.
Thursday, Jonathan had band, Amelia spent the day with Faith, then spent the evening with Granny until I was done with work. It was my weekend to work, so it was a really long weekend, but we made it through! Pam came to stay with Amelia on Friday because Faith left for vacation. It was a good day for everyone! Jonathan worked in the evening for awhile to get his project done on time, then we slept quick so that we were ready to roll again on Saturday. WHEW!
In the morning, Jonathan and Amelia left for the farm and I left for work, then they came home, Amelia was supposed to nap, but she didn't, so he took her to band with him and she hung out until it was time for church. She had a total of 1/2 hour of sleep instead of the 3.5 hours she normally gets...so after church I hustled her home so she could go to bed at a good time! Sunday was a chill day for everyone, Amelia got good naps, Jonathan rested at home and I worked, but it was a good day!
Week 28: January 24-30
Probably our most chill week of the year, but still not that chill...just chill-Y! Faith was on vacation, so it was our first week of me working, us having Amelia AND not having Faith! Whew! So glad we have her...for sure. Monday was a big day for Amelia and I because I have resolved to take her shopping with me. She is now at the point that she can stay awake, sit in the cart and we can both handle it very well! I have been grocery shopping either with Amelia AND Jonathan or I have been sneaking away during naps or just for an hour or so by myself, but that all changed on Monday and it went so well! We went to DDM to get cleaning supplies for the year, Aldi for groceries, Motts' for some of the extra stuff we need and then we made it home! Amelia did great, she was happy and pleasant and only tried to eat the cart once! She took a great nap when we got home, then, when Jonathan was done with work we had burritos and I worked on getting the seeds ordered for our garden!
As usual, Tuesday was pretty normal. Mom ended up having a snow day, so Amelia went there for the day, then stayed for awhile because Jonathan had to go up to Ravenna for a meeting in the evening, then when he came home, they brought the baby back for bed! She had a good day and slept super well since she refused to nap...not sure why that keeps happening in this little segment of our life!
My Wednesdays are always great, so it was no different on the 26th! Jonathan worked, but we stayed home! I washed the bedding, made muffins and then we went to Grinders with Mom and Dad and came home for some ice cream. It was a fun, impromptu little dinner and we had a great time catching up! We don't really get to just sit down with them very often, so it was wonderful!
Thursday was a short day and I had an awesome interview, so that was a great day! Amelia stayed home with Aunt Chery and then went to hang out with Mom while Jonathan was at band. Friday was another short day for me and Jonathan and Amelia stayed home! They went to Lowes to get a shop-vac and then just enjoyed some time together. Thankfully, he had a lot of hours in and had the time to spend some extra time with her.
Saturday we spent the morning at the farm, then came home for Amelia's nap and for Jonathan to go to band. I took a nap, Amelia took a nap, everyone was happier by the time we got to church! We had a great week at church, then Jonathan picked dinner up for us and we watched a movie when he got home! Since I was off for the weekend, we had a nice, chill day on Sunday. Jonathan went to the men's breakfast at church and stopped at True Value and I stayed at home, prepped some food and did laundry. When he got home, he helped me clean the house and get ready for the rest of the week. It was a ton of fun relaxing at home together, it had been a while since we had the opportunity to do that, so it was super precious for us!
So there you go! 2022 has taken off running for us, but we are enjoying getting some things accomplished here. Lots of family time, lots of cold days outside and warm days in! Jonathan has been working on the apartment, almost done with the demolition part and so close to construction! I hope everyone else's year is off to a good start, have a good next few weeks!
Love,
Allison, Jonathan and Amelia
