I am a week late with this one, but here regardless! It has been a bit of a rough few weeks with Jonathan's test coming up, but we have been making the best of it.
September 27-October 3
I worked two long days while Jonathan studied on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday I worked a flu clinic in the afternoon while Amelia napped, then came home to see her and Jonathan! We relaxed in the evening, had dinner and then had DQ for dessert.
On Thursday I hung out at my parents' for a minute, then we came home and Amelia went to bed...but she had a rough night and was up for almost 2 hours. Since she was struggling with her ears a little bit, I took her to the doctor's on Friday...there was nothing wrong. So I have no idea what was going on with her, but she was okay! We had hotheads, then went to see the Henman's new house! It was so great to spend some time with them and see where they live! We had a great visit.
On Saturday we had some boats come in, which was exciting! Jonathan mowed the lawn, we harvested some pumpkins and did some decorating. We had breakfast at By The Way Cafe and stopped at Mom and Dad's to get milk. I made some baby food while Jonathan and Amelia went to True Value on a quick run, which was nice! After church we came home and had potluck potatoes out of the crockpot, which worked out perfectly! Throughout the day we did laundry and watched Tolkien, which was a great movie!
Sunday we went to visit the Haas fam, we had steaks for lunch and pizza for dinner, Jonathan studied and watched the game and I finished the laundry.
October 4-10 was my long week. We had leftovers on Monday and Pam came and stayed with Amelia while I was at work. On Tuesday, Mom watched Amelia while Dad and Jonathan went to look at the barn at Grandpa's to see any ideas they could get. After that, he studied.
On Wednesday I ended up having to work, meaning I worked 60 hours in 6 straight days this week...it was rough. We had Subway for dinner and watched the Masked Singer! Thursday was the day it went a little crazy...Jonathan was supposed to go to a career fair, but instead, he ended up testing positive for COVID, so that really put a damper in all of our weekend plans, which weren't that plentiful anyway.
Jonathan and Amelia hung out all weekend since he was positive. She stayed home with him and he just worked when he could. I worked a long day, but went out to my car for a short break to eat, which really saved my mental status! The weekend was pretty great. I worked Saturday then came straight home. We had tacos and watched a show in the evening. Sunday was supposed to be a work day for me, but since I picked up the Wednesday shift I didn't have to work! Jonathan studied, milked and mowed, we had some boats come in, I dug some potatoes and we mopped the floor. It was a good day after a long week!
October 11-17 was spent catching up with Shem! He came home on Sunday, so we got to see him on Monday for a fish fry. During lunch Jonathan's mom and sister facetimed because they wanted to see Amelia while Emily was home on break. We spent the evening at the Haas House enjoying some great company, good food, and seeing Shem!!!
Tuesday was typical and Wednesday was Amelia's 9 months birthday - I can't believe I have a 9-month old!!! She was sweet as pie. We had Oktober fest stew, which is one of our favorites and I got Shepherd's pie ready for the next day.
Thursday was a pretty smooth day, Jonathan didn't go to band because he wanted some extra study time and we had to pick the car up from the mechanic. I worked Friday, then picked pizza, Jonathan and Amelia up on my way home and we went to Mom and Dad's to see the Riches since Daniel was in town too! It was great to hear what is going on in his life and how God is using him!
Saturday was a fun day. We left a little early for a wedding and went out for lunch, which is always smart because I eat last at every wedding that I go to! We had lunch at The Nest and it was absolutely delicious, then we continued on to the wedding for one of Jonathan's friends from high school. It was a lot of fun to see some of his friends and catch up. We were glad we went and enjoyed an evening together while Amelia enjoyed a night at Granny and Papa's!
We picked Amelia up on Sunday morning just to go back for a family reunion later in the day. We had great food and great time together with family, which was just a lot of fun for everyone.
Bonus week since I am writing late, October 18-24 was all study. I took some time off so Jonathan wouldn't have to worry about Amelia and he took half days on Monday-Thursday strictly to take practice tests. It was beneficial for him, but exhausting for me! I worked 4 hours on Monday, so after work I went to Alliance to do my grocery shopping while Amelia was at Faith's, then I picked her up and we had the evening together. It took Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday to get the lawn mowed...I even got to help because I needed a break! While I was off, I got the tomatos juiced and finished harvesting my pumpkins. Jonathan helped me harvest the potatoes and I went to get apples for applesauce...just haven't made it yet! Amelia had her nine month visit at the doctor's, which went perfectly! She is growing and developing and just so joyful!
The weekend was a lot of studying again. Friday night we went to the Prusia's in the evening. During the day, I cooked down tomato sauce and made monster cookies. I did a lot of reading while I was off, so that was going on most of the days as well...I could have written, I really could have, but I preferred to read books instead...but look! Now you have this extra week to read about!
On Saturday, Amelia and I went to an auction to leave Jonathan alone, we didn't get anything but Dad found some lumber for Jonathan! I canned our tomato sauce, we had church and then we watched a movie. It wasn't a good movie, but we watched it anyway!
Sunday was the last study day. Poor Jonathan and the rest of the Landis team were pretty worn out! We had fish tacos and hungarian goulash, then I put together dinner for the next day as well. I did laundry and we got ready for the next few days...test day was Tuesday, so stay tuned!
We are so thankful to be done with this season...Jonathan has worked hard and I am so proud of his accomplishments. He is amazing and we are glad to have him back from the study world! On to the next thing!
Hope you all are staying warm in this season transition we are going through...it is dreary, that's for sure! We love you all!
Love,
Alli, Jonathan and Amelia
