Year 3, Weeks 36 and 37: Last Weeks Home

Well, hello! We are back again. Not a lot to report, but it has been a great. We have enjoyed a lot of time as a family and have just basked in our last two weeks of my maternity leave..

March 22-28:

The week started out SO beautiful! We went on walks Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday around the allotment, which was incredibly enjoyable! It was just so lovely! Amelia loved going out in her stroller! She was so incredibly happy. Otherwise, I made cereal, ran, we had Fiesta Chicken, went grocery shopping, got Papa John's and watched the Masked Singer.

On Thursday I went over to get milk with the intention of making butter. Oddly enough, I managed not to get butter...it is unclear why. Still have to figure that out! Anyway, Jonathan went up to the farm to help in the evening while we were at home and relaxed.

Shem came home for the weekend, so it was very busy! On Friday we had an awesome dinner at Mom and Dad's with the family plus Abby. We ate, played with Amelia and played Phase 10! Amelia just loved Abby so much, she kept talking and talking and talking to her! It was so funny. Before we went, I made a dessert for the weekend at the farm and got a bunch of stuff ready for that.

Saturday was pig day, so we spent the day up at the farm! It was beautiful out, so Amelia spent some time out in the shed with us until it was time for her to eat. She took fantastic naps and was just a complete trooper! After we were done with our part we went to church, then relaxed as a family for the rest of the evening to get ready for Sunday, which was another family filled day! The Landis' came in the morning, then we went to Mom and Dad's so we could see Shem again as well as the rest of the Haas family! There were quite a few of us and it was good to see everyone again.

March 29-April 4:

My last week off. Whew...it has been such a great, life-changing, incredible break...but I was not ready to have my LAST week off! It went by way too fast! With all of the COVID-19 shots changing and everything, it is a bit daunting, but I thoroughly enjoyed my last week.

Jonathan went back to work for the first time this week. He has been working from home, but hasn't gone overnight yet, so Monday and Tuesday Amelia and I were home. Thankfully, my mom was on spring break, so I had some help! We needed a few things in Alliance (*ahem* diapers), so she and I went up to get what we needed. I also did some shopping at Kohl's for a few new items for my wardrobe since not all of my clothes are post-baby friendly yet. Thankfully, most of them are fine, but I needed to go through and get rid of a few things that have been way too well loved anyway, so it was good to go and get a few things. Kohl's had some awesome sales going on, so I was very proud of how much I got and the price I paid for it! Throughout the morning I noticed that I was not feeling well at all and it kept getting worse. We went to Mom's after our shopping trip so I could get waxed and I took some Tylenol. It became pretty evident that I had mastitis, however, the doctor's office wouldn't call anything in for me until I had a fever...well..taking a fever reducer really slows down that process. So, Mom came over in the evening and helped with Amelia until my fever finally spiked and they called in an antibiotic for me. Thankfully, that knocked it out and we are back on track! I started feeling better as soon as I took some more acetaminophen!

Jonathan had a great trip out, he enjoyed seeing Dillon and got to go to a new restaurant in Wapak! Apparently they opened in 2020, which we were both impressed by. I was very happy when he got home on Tuesday, but I was also glad that we got to trial everything before I went back to work. Staying at home with Amelia actually went very well...probably partly due to the fact that I felt awful and was completely exhausted! She and I had another pretty full day on Tuesday. We went to visit Faith, who is Amelia's babysitter and a friend from church. She is absolutely fantastic, so it was good to see her and chat about Amelia's schedule and get a plan in place for that. Afterward, we stopped at Mom's, Amelia ate and we hung out there for a little bit. Mom got her to giggle! It was the most adorable sound I have ever heard in my whole life. She is a little stingy with it...we haven't been able to get her to repeat the sound, but she is just SO smiley and happy that I think she will start doing it consistently soon.

On Wednesday we went over to Mom and Dad's for dinner and so that Jonathan could practice milking. I had to make a few calls to get a slip to go back to work and make sure everything was in order for that. Thursday was a pretty standard day. I went in to work to go through some e-mails because I had over 150 to go through and read. It was a lot to deal with, but I was glad to get it over with before I jumped back in with both feet. After that, I went to get the rest of our meat and went to Mom's to do some wrapping. In the afternoon, I spring cleaned my living room and then hung out with Amelia for the evening while Jonathan was at band! Recently, Amelia has been a little reluctant to roll, but that evening she rolled 3 times for me AND I got it on camera! So that was very exciting for us.

Friday was our date night. Jonathan milked, we went to get dinner and then came back and ate it while we watched Knives Out. It had been highly recommended by a few different people and it was really interesting! Definitely different than many other movies...we both enjoyed it! I am slowly working my way through the house, so I spring cleaned the dining room on Friday, which was a pretty easy room but I did what I could!

Saturday was another big day of work. I spring cleaned the kitchen and Jonathan worked on the mower until it was time for him to go to church. He played this week, so he had to be there a little bit early. When we got home, we had dinner, relaxed, and watched some TV.

Easter Sunday was fun with little Miss Amelia! She got to wear a new dress and we took her to the Landis' church. It was nice to show her off! A lot of the people there didn't even know we were having a baby, so they were pretty surprised! Afterward we went to their house, had lunch and hung out there for the afternoon. Jonathan's sisters were both in town and his grandpa came to spend time with us too, so we enjoyed that. In the evening, we went to get the rest of our meat done at Mom and Dad's, had dinner there and then spent some time together in the evening. Having a baby really changes your perspective on Easter. I cannot imagine allowing my baby to be brutally murdered for the sins of someone who does not deserve it, like God did for me. It is so humbling and I am just so thankful for what Jesus did for our salvation...His rising from the dead is definitely a day worthy of celebration.

I hope everyone had an amazing Easter and enjoyed all the good weather that we have been having! It looks like Spring is very much upon us, which has been lovely! Have an awesome few weeks, we will see you soon!

Love,

Alli, Jonathan and Amelia
